Sunday, July 23rd 2006:

Jehangir hit an unbeaten century (111 not out) to help his team take a one game lead in the 7-match series.  The Xpress won the toss and decided to bat.  Extras helped accelerate the run rate for the Xpress, but the top order faced a horrid collapse as openers failed to put on a good partnership.  Jehangir, who missed game 2 against LCRC, looked to dominate the moment he stepped onto the crease.  A combination of patience and excellent stroke play helped him boost the Xpress run rate.  Sunny, Ankit and Anupam played supporting roles to help Jehangir reach his first career century as LVCC posted a total of 208 for the loss of 6 wickets. Shanta, the only consistent bowler on the LCRC camp managed to pick up some key wickets. His skiddish, medium paced deliveries troubled the batsmen in seaming conditions.

LCRC made a weak attempt to chase the mammoth total. The openers tried to adjust to the mid-morning seaming conditions, but failed as wickets tumbled in quick succession. Shanta, who showed good form with the ball, continued to do so with the bat as he raced towards a quick 39.  Xpress, however, continued to dominate the bowling end as the spin twins bowled their victims out and sealed the match. LCRC did not show any resistance; and are now looking to face another series defeat at the hands of an in-form LVCC.
