Result: LVCC won by 9 wickets
; Scorecard

Sunday, July 30th 2006:

The Xpress “Gung Ho” bowling attack proved too strong for LCRC to handle, as they faltered to another embarrassing defeat. LVCC won the toss and immediately put the Lankans to bat in conditions well suited for seam bowling. In a desperate attempt to win, the LCRC made too many errors and only managed to post a mediocre total of 112 runs. Anuraddha was the only player to show some resistance and scored 35 runs.  However, the highlight was the extras given away by the Xpress. A total of 32 wide deliveries were bowled, making extras the 12th man playing for LCRC.  Running between the wickets was not too impressive either as two key players from LCRC fell victims to some great fielding by the Xpress.

LVCC looked comfortable chasing the total as they only lost 1-wicket in the process. Lenin, who has been consistent in posting double figures in almost every match played since the 5-match series, got out on 16. He looked in fine nick, but fortune did not favor the good as he got caught in the slip by Bindu off Shanta’s delivery. Anupam and Aurangzeb, also known as the notorious A’s bowling duo, sealed the win as both put on a pair of 38’s.  Aurangzeb, whose flurry of boundaries demoralized the Lankans, smashed a couple of big sixes to reach his unbeaten 38.

With the win, LVCC are now sensing a series victory as their opponents seem to be clueless.  The Xpress are anticipating a comeback by the Lankans in next week’s match.
